Thanks for listening and reading everybody. The governor and special interests want to shower local governments around the state with buckets of money that they can spend any way they want to, specifically by giving 20 percent of the state’s sales tax revenue to local governments as shared revenue. First, if the state doesn’t need that money, maybe we should reduce the state sales tax from 5 cents on the dollar to 4 cents. Second, local governments should not be given a blank check to spend willy-nilly. If there is a need, there are ways to fund those needs without more unrestricted shared revenue. Republicans should kill the proposal.
