Margaret Byfield, the executive director of American Stewards of Liberty (ASL), has an important message for America: If the people don’t own the land, the people do not have rights.
“What our Founders understood intrinsically was that who owns the land controls the nation,” Byfield says. “And where they were working to set up a nation that was actually governed by the people, they knew the only way that that could be secured is if the people owned the land.”
The purpose of Byfield’s ASL is to protect those property rights and the liberties they secure. In this discussion, she informs us about what ASL is doing, the challenges we face as government at all levels assault our property rights, from zoning to conservation easements to eminent domain, and what citizens can do about it. And she relates her own personal history in taking on a tyrannical government out to control the people by controlling the land.
