U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wisconsin 7th) and 56 other Republicans voted against sending nearly $40 billion more in aid to Ukraine, saying it’s time to put American families first.

My, how times have changed. The party of George McGovern and Eugene McCarthy and Robert F. Kennedy, anti-war activists all, has suddenly become a stewing pot of warmongers. Yes, yes, the Democrats have always been the party of war, but at least since the 1960s the progressive left faction inside the party was anti-war. No more. In this week’s vote to send almost $40 billion more in military aid to Ukraine, not one progressive voted no, not even AOC or any other member of The Squad.

Meanwhile, over on the other side, Wisconsin Republican Tom Tiffany and 56 others voted no to the aid, and here’s how Marjorie Taylor Greene, also one of the no votes, put it:

$40 billion for Ukraine, but there’s no baby formula for American mothers and babies... Stop funding regime change and money laundering scams.

As I said, my, how times have changed. It’s not all that long ago that such language would have been branded by the war establishment as left-wing kookiness. Now they call it right-wing kookiness—and nearly treasonous. But it’s not kookiness of any kind. It was a sober call to wake up to what the warmongers are really doing. Tiffany had something to say, too, and I’ll get to that in a moment, but’s let’s preface it with a look at just what is going on here.
