CDC still monitoring possible link between Pfizer jab and ischemic strokes
People keep having strokes and dropping dead from cardiac arrests, but the government wants you to know everything is normal. Oh, and go get the jab.
The new year wasn’t ringing in too well for the Covid vaccines, as the first weeks of 2023 saw the CDC suddenly investigating whether the bivalent Pfizer vaccine creates an increased risk of ischemic strokes in older Americans—they still are investigating after new data still detects a signal, albeit a weaker one—while new studies continued to underscore the heightened risk of adverse cardiac events associated with the drugs and a FDA official said large new clinical trials and not just updated boosters will be required for future Covid vaccines.
Meanwhile, just this week Detroit Lions linebacker Jessie Lemonier died unexpectedly at 25, leaving behind a pregnant girlfriend. That very well might turn out to be unrelated to this article but nonetheless serves as a reminder of the mind-boggling and growing list of young people who have just dropped dead, or died unexpectedly, since the vaccines hit the market, a list on which Lemonier is now included. And that list in toto is relevant.
So is the statement about strokes issued by the CDC on Friday the 13th, which was potentially ominous and absolutely haunting.
Following the availability and use of the updated (bivalent) Covid-19 vaccines, CDC’s Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD), a near real-time surveillance system, met the statistical criteria to prompt additional investigation into whether there was a safety concern for ischemic stroke in people ages 65 and older who received the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine, Bivalent.
Specifically, the VSD tracked approximately 550,000 people aged 65 and older who received the bivalent booster, and 130 had strokes within three weeks of getting the jab. No one died, the CDC said:
Rapid-response investigation of the signal in the VSD raised a question of whether people 65 and older who have received the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine, Bivalent were more likely to have an ischemic stroke in the 21 days following vaccination compared with days 22-44 following vaccination.
(As an aside here, on his Substack page, researcher Igor Chudov observed that it was implausible that, out of 130 observed strokes, no one died because, overall, one out of every 5.25 stroke victims dies, which means, on average, about 25 of the 130 would have ended up deceased. I ran my own numbers and found a 13.6-percent death rate for victims of ischemic strokes, which is a bit lower than Chudov but still significant at about 18 deaths per 130 strokes. So it appears that once again the CDC is shoveling shit, maybe to assure people that the vaccine might give you a stroke but, hey, you’ll be okay.)
